Struck on the base rim are marks: Belgian import control mark (1831–1869), two French eagle's head marks for 18K gold small items (1847–1919)
The shell-shaped snuffbox features a hinged lid in a gold mount. The protruding lid and the base are executed in skillfully carved amber of different shades. The mounts of the lid and the base are profiled and polished. On the front side of the lid edge, there is a clasp in the form of two silver branches with "flowers"—rose-cut diamonds and red-colored stones, radiating from a central ruby and a yellow-colored stone located above it.
