The gold snuffbox features four compartments of an elongated shape with rounded ends. This rare type of snuffbox, created in Europe in the second half of the 18th century, has a unique folding design. Each of the sections represents a separate compartment with its own hinged lid. The surfaces of the snuffbox are decorated with a general ornament in the form of a linear guilloché field with evenly scattered chased stars. The fields are bordered by chains of colored gold beads with foliate inserts. The side surface is decorated with rosettes featuring flower heads of green gold. The inner surfaces of the snuffbox are mirror-polished. Struck on the inner surfaces of the lids are the maker's marks, the guarantee and import marks of tax collectors.
