The hinged top lid of the oval gold body with a flat bottom is decorated with an oval medallion featuring a painted enamel insert. The insert depicts a pair of loving young people in antique robes walking in a garden. A certain character peeks at them from behind a balustrade. The image is surrounded by a narrow chased frame and a chain of light blue enamel rings on the bezel. The medallion is placed on a guilloché field under translucent cream-colored enamel, on which trees with bare branches are depicted. The sepia-colored images, resembling dendritic opal, serve as the main motif of the snuffbox decoration. Such images decorate both the side surface and the bottom of the snuffbox. The contours of the snuffbox sides are highlighted by borders of a regular enamel ornament of light blue and white colors on a gold background, executed in the champlevé technique. The side facets are separated by vertical blue pilasters with a gold ornament in the form of musical instruments and garlands. The inner surfaces of the snuffbox are mirror-polished.
