The sculpture depicts a woman surrounded by fantastical flowers. Large blue blossoms encircle the shoulders and develop into green leaves, as though the female figure were growing out of a bouquet. Patinated bronze is combined with saturated blue, green and white enamel, creating a vivid color contrast. The marble base provides a restrained support for the colorful composition. Created around 1924, the work continues Henri Godet’s characteristic theme of “flower women,” rooted in Art Nouveau aesthetics and its desire to unite the human figure with natural forms.
