The snuffbox features a rectangular body made of light tortoiseshell with a base in a gold mount and a hinged lid on two shaped hinges. Under the lid, there is a tobacco compartment with an ornament translucent from the inner side through the semi-transparent tortoiseshell. The lid and the bottom panel are decorated with an ornament by the piqué point and piqué posé methods in the form of an image of shells and scrolls over a mesh field of dotted diamonds. On the front side of the lid, there is a smoothly polished, shaped clasp with engraving along the contour serving as a projection for opening. On the front and side panels of the body, there is an ornament of garlands with foliate scrolls and shells over a mesh field of dotted diamonds.
