    The snuffbox features a dark tortoiseshell body of a rectangular shape in a gold cage structure with a hinged lid. On the lid decorated with inlay of multi-colored gold and silver by the piqué coulé (cast piqué) method, there is a shaped insert depicting a rooster standing near a pond with a flowering plant and reeds on the bank. In the center of the protruding projection for opening the lid, there is an image of a shell. Under the lid, there is a tobacco compartment made of mirror-polished gold with marks, the inner part of the cage structure features wavy borders. Along the perimeter of the lid and on the side surface, there are gold bands with fluted wavy lines. The bottom panel is decorated with an insert featuring inlay by the piqué method in the form of an exotic bird with spread wings standing on a sphere at the intersection of two leaves. The side panels are decorated with stylized images of various plants with flowers and leaves.
