The snuffbox features an oval-shaped ivory body in a gold mount with a hinged lid. On the lid, there is a carved miniature depicting a profile of a military hero, framed by a chain of beads, surrounded by putti glorifying him. Under the lid, there is a tobacco compartment lined with light tortoiseshell with an amber tint, matching the color of snuff tobacco. The surfaces of the lid and the bottom panel of the base are framed by gold bands with a relief geometric ornament. On the bottom and side surfaces, there are carved images of scenes of hunting camps, dogs, and attributes. The front side of the lid, the lower edge of the side surface, the rims, and the shaped projection for opening are also decorated with gold bands with a relief ornament. Marks are struck on the rim.
