Rectangular octagonal snuffbox, crafted from gold, features a hinged lift-top lid. The interior surfaces of the box are mirror-polished. The exterior surfaces of the item are decorated with miniatures executed in the cameo style (white raised figures against blue background). Set under protective glass on the wide side facets, as well as on the lid and the bottom of the snuffbox, are oval bas-relief inserts depicting bacchanalian scenes. These inserts are framed by dark green figures of bacchantes, satyrs, and cupids with garlands and grape clusters. The narrow vertical corners (canted edges) of the body are flanked by raised fluted pilasters and decorated with images of hunting, artistic, and musical attributes, as well as gardening tools. All contours of the decorative elements are framed by garlands of multi-colored gold inlaid with clear stones.
