French gold hallmarks on the interior surfaces including an eagle's head, a dog's head, a crown-surmounted letter mark, and a rubbed star-shaped mark
An oval-shaped varicolored gold snuffbox featuring a hinged lid. The interior surfaces of the body have a mirror polish. The exterior of the lid, the bottom, and the side walls of the snuffbox are decorated with a regular chased and engraved ornament based on a rhythmic repetition of three rosettes bordered by volutes, executed against a fine-grained stippled background. The large central rosette on the lid and bottom represents a stylized flower, the engraved petals of which are made of gold in various shades; the composition is enclosed within an applied green gold laurel wreath. Within the smaller side rosettes, the laurel wreaths frame smooth polished discs.
