Oval-shaped gold snuffbox featuring a hinged lid. The walls of the box are decorated with oval reserves containing suspended floral garlands set against a background of stylized fluting and covered with translucent green enamel over an engine-turned ground (executed in the basse-taille technique). The top of the lid is adorned with a chased composition depicting allegorical trophies (birds, fruits, and musical instruments) on a textured field; the scene is framed by a wreath of ribbon-tied laurel branches and partially covered with translucent green enamel. The edge of the lid is accentuated by a raised braided (guilloche) pattern. The exterior of the bottom features a similar composition of trophies (a flower basket, musical instruments, and sheet music).
