Oval-shaped gold snuffbox featuring a hinged lid. The box side walls are decorated with trapezoidal reserves containing applied chased elements in the form of floral garlands, complemented by allegorical trophies of gardening, hunting, love, and music, all set against engine-turned background. The top of the lid is adorned with a leafy frieze overlaid with a composition of trophies symbolizing the exact sciences: arithmetic, geometry, and astronomy. The exterior of the bottom features a similar compositional design, but depicts musical attributes. The rims of the lid, the base of the bottom, and the lower third of the snuffbox body are bordered by raised arcaded bands incorporating stylized shells.
