Octagonal gold snuffbox featuring a hinged lid, with a base and lid made of red lacquer. The walls are decorated with circular medallions suspended from bows, depicting flower vases. The images are set against textured background. The canted corners of the body imitate columns with volutes and suspended leafy garlands. Inset into the center of the lid is an octagonal reserve featuring an allegorical composition consisting of hearts on an altar, a dove, a small dog, and a basket of flowers, symbolizing love.
