A sculptural image depicting an elderly mustachioed rider in a high papakha hat, a shirt with gazyri cartridge slots, boots, and harem trousers, sheathing his shashka sword. The Cossack leads a horse captured on the battlefield by its reins under a saddlecloth; a saber in its scabbard, round shield, a rifle, and a dagger are packed onto its saddle. The group is mounted on an oval base with smooth plinth and massive relief terrain that renders uneven ground with a fallen banner lying upon it.
