The snuffbox features a gold body in the form of a cartouche with a hinged lid. On the protruding lid with a profiled edge, there is a relief chased image of the god Chronos with a scythe in his left hand and a wreath in his right hand over the head of the figure of Hope leaning on an anchor, with an image of a cupid and a lamb, a symbol of humility, at the bottom, surrounded by relief scrolls in the rocaille style and foliate branches on a matted ground. Under the lid, there is a tobacco compartment with marks on a mirror-polished surface. On the bottom panel of the base and the side curved surface, there are chased relief images of rocaille work, flowers, and scrolls.
