The circular silver snuffbox, with the traces of gilding on the interior, features a removable (detachable) lid. Inset into the lid is an imprint of the reverse of the 1782 commemorative medal "On the Unveiling of the Monument to Emperor Peter the Great in St. Petersburg." The medal is framed by rays, resembling an order decoration, and supplemented by niello depictions of military trophies set against an engraved background. The medal depicts the equestrian statue of Peter I on a granite rock with the inscription "Петру.I.- Екатерина.II."; to the left above the exergue is "W." (Wächter), and in the exergue is "ЛѢТА.1782.АВГУСТА.6.ДНЯ". The walls of the snuffbox are decorated with a niello band of garlands and military trophies on an engraved background. The bottom of the snuffbox features a depiction of military trophies (so-called military panoply) – including banners, standards, spears, cannons, fasces (lictor bundles), drums, etc. – framed along the edge by a band of niello foliage ornament. The composition, executed in niello, is set against geometric background.
