The sides of the body are decorated with rectangular reserves featuring a regular engine-turned pattern, inside of which are placed oval foliate rosettes. The reserves are visually separated by vertical raised garlands of flowers. The base of the snuffbox features an oval medallion with a foliate rosette against an engine-turned ground; the perimeter of the base is bordered by a band of alternating rosettes and leaves. The top of the lid is adorned with a large oval medallion featuring a chased allegorical composition, traditionally symbolizing fidelity and love: it depicts a park rotunda (Temple of Love), a burning altar, a dog, and a pair of doves. The medallion is enclosed within an elegant border in the form of a floral wreath, while the entire perimeter of the lid's rim is highlighted by a raised border of stylized rosettes and leaves.
