Master's mark – "AJS"; 2) "18" gold fineness standard mark and a crown; 3) leopard's head in an oval shield with canted upper corners and a rounded base – London assay mark; 4) date letter "N"; 5) duty mark – profile of George III.
Rectangular gold snuffbox featuring a hinged lid. Inset into the lid and bottom are rectangular malachite plaques framed by a chased floral ornament. The walls are decorated with rectangular reserves containing a diamond (lozenge) pattern inside, with the corners adorned with floral rosettes. The lower part of the body and the side surfaces of the lid are accentuated by a garland of laurel leaves.
