A singing bird snuff box in rectangular, gilt-silver case with rounded corners, the side panels decorated with raised ornamentation over engine-turned (guilloché) surface, with relief foliage along the vertical ribs. The rear side features a mirror-polished tobacco compartment with an upward-opening lid. On the front right side is a sliding lever to activate the bird mechanism. When activated, the oval lid automatically opens, and a miniature brightly feathered, long-tailed bird emerges. The bird spins, turns its head, flaps its wings, moves its tail, and opens and closes its beak, as sound mechanism simulates bird chirping. Upon completion of the program, the bird retracts and the lid lowers.
