The fob is made of a goldish metal in the form of a round case housing a miniature musical movement, topped with a soldered ornate polished handle in the form of thin-walled converging rocailles, supporting a bivalve mollusk shell. Set between the rocailles is a polished narrow-necked vase with an openwork base. The central part of the vase is encircled by a chain of circular pale blue smalt insets. The top of the handle ends in a flat suspension ring of graduated width, which serves as the winding key for the musical movement. The convex upper side of the case is smooth and polished. The lateral surface of the case is composed of alternating profiled smooth and fluted bands. The miniature spring‑driven musical movement consists of a pinned cylinder and a stack of tuned lamellae. The movement is activated by a flat slider located on the case lateral side.
