The music box is housed in a mahogany cabinet on a profiled base with carved ornamentation, featuring carved columns at the corners, and resting on four supports. At the top, there are two double lids, each on three hinges, equipped with support rollers for the disc. Inside the cabinet, on a rectangular golden chassis inscribed with “Regina” and the number “32080”, a musical mechanism is installed. This mechanism consists of two musical combs with 172 tones and an axle with a set of star-wheels between them, designed to transfer force from the projection of the program disc to the tooth of the musical comb. When the spring is wound and a disc is inserted, the mechanism starts, the disc rotates, and the projections engage the corresponding star-wheels, which in turn pluck the teeth of the musical combs, causing the melody to sound. After the melody ends, the disc stops automatically.
