Boy shooting a bow
Boy shooting a bow
Germany, Berlin
First half of the 20th century
Ivory, marble (base); ivory carving
Hight 20 cm
Signature «F. Preiss»
The moment before the shot is conveyed through the boy’s tense pose: one arm raises a long bow high while the other is drawn back toward the shoulder as if pulling the string. The figure is carved entirely from ivory, allowing the smooth modeling and small details to be clearly seen. The long diagonal of the bow greatly expands the space around the intimate statuette.
