Model by Thomire (Pierre-Philippe), Workshop of Pierre-Philippe Thomire
Bronze; casting, chasing, gilding, mounting
The inscription is engraved on the plinth: THOMIRE A PARIS. The Empire‑style candelabrum for twelve candles is made of gilded bronze. It is executed as three bacchantes standing on a cylindrical profiled plinth, supporting with their raised arms round openwork urn fitted with candle nozzles. The walls of the urn are modeled as grape leaves and bunches; grape clusters also adorn the girls’ hair. Each nozzle is decorated with stylized acanthus leaves, the bobèches with spoon-like gullets and a double‑rows band of stylized palmettes. The plinth is decorated with the applied relief frieze of putti bearing garlands of flowers.
