Mantel (table) clock executed in the Neo-Russian style [or Art Nouveau style]. The movement is enclosed within a case formed of a trapezoidal base and an ogee (keel-shaped) finial. The upper section of the base is decorated with a raised, bust-length depiction of the ancient god of time, Chronos (Saturn), resting his hand upon an hourglass; the allegorical figure is presented against a smooth field and framed below by a garland of oak leaves, and on the sides by stylized volutes against a textured ground. An engraved artistic monogram in the form of letters 'СД' is placed in the lower zone of the base.
Centered in the ogee finial is a circular dial with Arabic numerals, two winding holes, and pierced silver hands, set against a textured ground. The dial is flanked by openwork raised depictions of symbolic birds: to the left is an owl against a dark blue enamel ground (a symbol of night), and to the right is a bust-length figure of a crowing rooster against an orange-red enamel ground (a symbol of morning). The perimeter of the finial is highlighted by a band of stylized circular rivets. A circular service door is provided on the case rear side. The movement features a key-wind and key-set mechanism.
